ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is World’s First Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Phone With an Under-Display Camera

ZTE has made the Axon 40 Ultra official yesterday on 09.05.2022. This is the first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to come with an under-display camera. The device comes with a curved edge display on the front and three 64-megapixel cameras on the back. Design and Display

In terms of dimensions and weight, the Axon 40 Ultra measures 163.2 x 73.5 x 8.4mm and weighs 204 grams. Another notable feature is its front-facing camera. There is no notch or punch-hole in its OLED panel since it is equipped with an under-display camera. Furthermore, the screen features extremely curved edges with a 71-degree curvature.

A 6.81-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, a DCI-P3 color gamut, 10-bit colors, and 400 PPI pixel density grace the device. A fingerprint sensor is integrated into the device for additional security.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the mobile platform that powers the Axon 40 Ultra. A 16GB LPDDR5 RAM module and a 1TB UFS 3.1 storage module are available with the SoC. MiFavor UI is layered on top of the Android 12 operating system, running on the Axon flagship.

With the Axon 40 Ultra, you get a 5,000mAh battery and 80W fast charging capabilities. There is no wireless charging technology on the device. This device features a liquid cooling unit occupying 36,356mm2 of space inside the device for heat dissipation.

The flagship phone also features dual speakers with DTS Ultra support and an X-axis linear motor. Dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, and a USB-C port round out the connectivity options.

Under the display is a 16-megapixel selfie camera with 2.24*m large pixels on the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra. Third-generation under-screen cameras feature an independent driver, a distributed transparent circuit, and a dedicated UDC Pro screen display chip.
