Samsung Exynos 2200 is Ready to Turn The Tables

Samsung Exynos 2200 will be the real future for the smartphone industry. What if your phone could do it all? What if it could turn into a desktop, or a tablet, or even a virtual reality headset with the right accessories? While that might seem like science fiction at the moment, that’s the sort of power the Samsung Exynos 2200 will have when it launches with Samsung’s next flagship smartphone this fall. While we don’t know what company will end up as its first partner, it would make sense for Samsung to release its new phone in conjunction.

4nm Processor

Samsung just published a press release detailing their latest addition to their mobile chipset lineup. Going by the name of Exynos, as per tradition, they’ve said that they’ll be releasing a new Exynos processor every year. This year happens to be more special than most in that it has been built using Samsung Foundry’s (the division behind all their mobile SoCs) newest FinFET node, 4LPE.

8 CPU Cores

A new report claims that Samsung will use an 8-core variant of its upcoming Exynos 2200 chipset for their flagship smartphone. This compares favorably with Apple’s current 4-core solution, as well as other high-end chips like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 series, which also comes in a 4-core option.

RAM

There’s a lot of confusion surrounding RAM, so let’s go over exactly what it is and how it affects your phone. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. As you probably guessed, that means it allows you to access data quickly and easily by reading from memory cells in sequence (sequentially). That way, even if there are hundreds of apps open on your phone at once, none of them will slow down because they can get at their data as quickly as possible. The RAM speed is 3200MHz and it will be based on LPDDR5X.

AMD GPU

Ever since Apple launched its first iPhone with a PowerVR GPU back in 2008, mobile device makers have been drawn to Imagination Technologies’ graphics technology. However, over time and as GPUs become more powerful and capable of handling more advanced 3D rendering, Samsung began working on its own custom-designed graphics chipsets (GPUs) and eventually dropped PowerVR GPUs altogether. Now two years later it seems that Samsung has finally perfected its homegrown processors based on AMD GPU.

RDNA 2 Graphics

ARM’s Mali GPUs are not as good as Qualcomm’s Adreno counterparts. For this reason, you might want to go for an Exynos chip if you need high GPU performance. However, with the release of the new RDNA 2 chip, Samsung might finally be able to beat Qualcomm. We saw the results of the race between RDNA and AMD. It was an enlightening and also frustrating experience.

64-bit Architecture

Exynos 2200 will be Samsung’s mobile processor with a 64-bit architecture, which means it can handle more than 12GB of RAM. It won’t only keep up with flagship smartphones, but power them into realms previously reserved for PCs and game consoles. Multitasking will never be easier.

Other Features

This massive improvement in performance, when compared to previous generation processors will enable flagship smartphones, with full HD displays and 64-bit computing capabilities. The new processor is even more powerful and efficient than its predecessor. It comes with both single and dual-core options that are clocked at 1x Cortex-X2 at 2.9GHz + 3×2.8GHz + 4×2.2GHz.

Samsung Exynos 2200 Launch Date

January 11, 2022. Samsung will officially launch its next-generation chipset two days from now. The company’s upcoming mobile processor, Samsung Exynos 2200, features 4nm FinFET technology that enables higher clock speeds and lowers power consumption as compared to last year’s models. Moreover, it also comes with custom cores optimized for Samsung’s latest application processors.

Final Words

Exynos 2200 Now Supports Voice Recognition Without any additional hardware. Samsung Exynos 2200: A New Big-Little Processor That’s Good Enough To Make Flagship Smartphones Relevant Again? Korean Herald reports that there could be a new processor in town, and it’s enough powerful to make flagships relevant again. However, it appears that flagship smartphones are not as significant as they used to be nowadays, but why?
