Ubuntu 21.10 Beta Impish Indri Features

GNOME 40

Ubuntu 21.10 is packed to the gills with new and exciting features and we hope you’ll enjoy them all. This feature was not available in Ubuntu 21.04 version. While we would love for everyone to be able to use our latest and greatest OS, we had to defer updating GNOME in order to maintain compatibility with extensions that add functionality to the GNOME desktop.

Switching

By tapping on Activities (or the Super key), you can now see both Windows and workspaces. The Ubuntu dock is still present on the left-hand side. There are two new buttons here – one for creating new workspaces, which launches the Workspace Switcher app, and another for seeing what apps are running in each workspace via the Overview.

Other Features

The new features coming to Ubuntu 21.10 include a new default desktop theme and support for the new OTA update process which updates by downloading and installing packages rather than full updates like before.
