The New Samsung Mobile RAM Based on LPDDR5X DRAM

Samsung has announced a new Samsung mobile ram, which is the Samsung LPDDR5X DRAM. The company claims this new RAM comes with a 1.3x faster processing speed and it also consumes 20% less energy compared to current RAMs. According to Samsung’s press release, the RAM’s low-energy consumption With its low energy consumption, RAM will enable many more powerful AI & edge applications.

The new Samsung LPDDR5X DRAM (Samsung Mobile RAM) will operate at speeds of up to 8.5Gbps, 1.3x faster than the current LPDDR5 RAM (6.4Gbps). This is a 16GB RAM built on a 14nm process. With the new Samsung mobile RAM, you can have up to 64 gigabytes of RAM per package. This might lead to the possibility of 64GB RAM becoming available on Samsung’s next smartphone.

Samsung’s 8.5GBps processors and power efficiency make their LPDDR5X RAM a potential game-changer for the Android market. The press release says that Samsung will be collaborating with other manufacturers on LPDDR5X, to get LPDDR5X into the mainstream.

Now that the Android market is getting more popular, it’s possible that future phones with up to 64GB of RAM will be available. Nonetheless, this new Samsung RAM is only limited to the smartphone market. The company’s ambitions would like to apply that in other areas such as servers and automobiles. Samsung has announced a 16GB RAM, which should be enough for most flagships.
