RICOCHET Anti-Cheat System Launched The New Initiative for Call Of Duty Cheaters

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat System Launched The New Initiative for Call Of Duty Cheaters: As with most online games, Call of Duty also has an infection problem. Nasty germs and viruses called cheaters are immune to the treatments game developers apply to try and keep them out. Cheaters use sophisticated hacking tools like aimbots and wallhacks that spoil the experience for others, damaging the game’s reputation in the process.

If the publisher Activision wants to counter these types of problems they need to create a new anti-cheat system called “RICOCHET.” It will be released with Call Of Duty: Vanguard on November 5 and arrive for COD: Warzone later in the year through the Pacific update.

Call of Duty Official Twitter Account

The news comes after Call of Duty’s official Twitter account responded to cheaters by stressing the developer’s commitment to fair play. Interestingly, the post turned into an ultimatum in the latter stages which we now understand refers to RICOCHET’s arrival in-game.

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat System Will Use New Kernel-Level Protection To Eject COD Hackers

Activision’s latest blog post writes about the new anti-cheat measures being taken to ensure games can be enjoyed by everyone without anyone getting in their way.

Importantly, not just server-side technology comes into play this time. As a matter of fact, RICOCHET will rely on new kernel-level drivers as well. The new security layer will initially arrive in COD Warzone and later it will become available in another call of duty games.

Something worth noting is that once the update releases, all COD players will need to run this anti-cheating system to access multiplayer. Also, this security enhancement is exclusive to PCs as most hacking incidents take place on that platform. Obviously, console players who match with PC players via crossplay would also notice a drop in hackers.

How Does it Work?

The kernel-level driver is an integral part of Activision’s anti-cheat software. It monitors every external application that interacts with your COD game when it’s running. Once it detects any unauthorized tools, it reports the same and successfully bans the cheaters.

To get rid of hacks, the anti-cheat driver needs special permissions to use your hardware and software on your computer at the kernel level. This gives it more power than any other program on your computer. It can access and change almost all of the hardware and software on your computer and is also used in many popular programs such as Valorant.

Activision’s answer to the growing number of hackers in Call of Duty: Warzone is a relief. Moreover, Ricochet carries the burden of backing up the big promise that came with its announcement. However, given that hackers almost always find a way, it will be challenging for the devs to keep pace with these miscreants.
